GOALS

Indy Hot Spots is a one stop app for all Indy tourists. I researched and designed framework slides for a logically sound app to help tourists find and follow interesting events in Indiana.

THE PROBLEM

When people travel from different states travel to Indiana, they usually only visit the known tourist attractions: downtown Indy, Children's Museum, etc. They are completely unaware of all of the amazing places that there are to visit in Indiana.

Let's not lie, even residents of Indiana, barely know what there is to do in this town. Which makes having a fun night out, or having to pick a new place really difficult or frustrating.

Research

THE SOLUTION

The application "Indy Hot Spots" is designed to inform tourists and residents about all of the fun and interesting places, events that there are within Indiana.

I focused on one major question:
What's the biggest challenge you face when exploring the city?

I decided to create a competitive analysis for this project. This allowed me to do research on other applications that shared a similar idea to my own.

Doing so allowed me to reveal the strengths, weaknesses, similarities, and differences between competitors in this industry. As a result, I gathered contextual information about the tourist guide & travel markets and identified a baseline for what users expect from this kind of service.

I researched 3 apps:

- GetYourGuide: Tours & Tickets

- Citymapper: all Your Transport

- Google Travel

The Persona:

Intrests

Sole cycling, walking , shopping

This helped me understand the behaviors, needs, and pain points of both tourists and local residents. By synthesizing these insights, I was able to create a persona that accurately represents users who struggle to find lesser-known attractions and seek a seamless, reliable way to discover new experiences in Indiana. I was able to create a persona from the collected information.

Frustrations

Trying to find new and exciting places to go to to keep myself, and my family entertained.  I am trying to keep my work-life balance so that I can feel like I am getting the best out of life , but, there is no way for me to know what is happening  around town

Needs

Conveniently lists all the events taking place in  I my state. Allows me to search through trendy locations (like  restaurants) and lets me plan accordingly.

Ideation

In the ideation phase of the project, I began by creating rough sketches to visualize the core features and user flows of Indy Hot Spots. These initial designs were then tested with participants to gather valuable user feedback. The testing process allowed me to pinpoint specific pain points users encountered when navigating the app. Using this feedback, I refined the design and transitioned into creating medium-fidelity mockups, addressing the issues and improving the overall user experience based on real-world input.

Final Product

The final product brings together all key insights and design iterations, culminating in a user-centric solution that addresses the needs and challenges identified throughout the process.

Conclusion

The development of Indy Hot Spots was a thorough and iterative process, driven by a deep understanding of user needs and market gaps. From initial research and competitive analysis to sketching, testing, and refining designs, I consistently gathered insights that informed each stage of development. By addressing user pain points and enhancing functionality with every iteration, I was able to create a well-rounded, user-centered solution. The final design not only simplifies the discovery of hidden attractions in Indiana but also enriches the overall experience for tourists and locals alike.
